Super compact

Very compact season opening in the North
Total length will probably be less than 300km – great support around Süderbrarup
SÜDERBRARUP. The first event of the German Rally Championship 2011 already takes shape four month prior to the start. At the end of March 2011, the ADAC Wikinger Rallye in the district of Schleswig-Flensburg will once again be characterized by earning points for numerous championships and series.
Again, the central location Süderbrarup will be the hub of the event. “The marketplace is ideally suited for this purpose, the department and the community make every effort to support us and so is the environment”, notes organizing director Rainer Haulsen (Schleswig). The operating collective of both ADAC local clubs MSF Idstedt and AC Schleswig plans to shift even more activities to the marketplace: “In 2011, not only the central service spot will be here, but also start and finish of the event as well as the Parc fermé at Friday night. We are in promising negotiations for a large, heated rally tent as the center of the ADAC Wikinger Rallye 2011. On Friday afternoon the technical inspection, which will be open to the public, shall be conducted in this tent as well as the award ceremony on Saturday evening. We want to top off the offer with an all-around catering”, Haulsen continues. The ADAC Wikinger Rallye has also plenty to offer in the sports program: “Currently it seems that the longest transport stage is 10,5 km, the shortest special stage is 9,2 km and the total distance of the event will probably be well below 300 km. We plan 12 special stages over a length of approximately 150 km” explains rally chief Jürgen Krabbenhöft (Neuberend) the state of preparations.
For the second time following 2009 it will be a clash of the best German and Danish drivers. The organizers have successfully applied for a rating to the Danish Championship (http://www.dasu.dk/web/guest/loebskalender). “The Wikinger is part of the Danish appointment diary which almost guarantees a top class starting field” says Torsten Johne (Flintbek), who is not only sports director of the ADAC Schleswig-Holstein, but also President of the German Motorsport Federation (Deutscher Motorsport Bund, DMSB).
It is traditional that the Wikinger Rallye is awarded a Danish attribute. So far it is the 10th time that the Scandinavians go south of their border to compete for national title points. “We are looking forward to a DM2!” that is the tenor of all involved north and south of the border.
